Updated review: now crap
MUNI updated its routes and this app went to hell. There is no longer a 71 or 16x. Its now the 7. The 7 shows in the routes list but all the stops reference 71 and 16 still. If I try to add the 7 to my favorites, the app crashes. In addition, I cannot get times from my favorites list, including the N and Nx. Instead, you have to get in range of your stop and click on it. All in all, the app has become useless and the developer does not respond to email. I am now searching to replace it. RIP.

This is the first app I ever paid for and its been incredibly worth $.99. The nextbus/nextMUNI websites do NOT translate well to an iPhone. This app solves that problem. Plus, it gives you a current estimate for the next 5 buses so you can plan whether to go get that cup of coffee or run that errand at Walgreens before walking to the next stop. The addition of a "favorites" feature saves even more time: I can see every morning whether I should catch the 71, 16x or N-Judah to get downtown, just by looking at the list of my favorites, which loads the arrival times on the same screen. With the latest version, if I miss a bus, I can quickly see which other routes come to the same stop and can then decide if I should take that line when it arrives.
There are two ways I can think of to improve this app to make it 5 stars (and its actually 4 1/2 for me, if that was an option):
1. Incorporate a trip planner feature ala google maps. (I currently open Google Maps, get the transit options, and then open pocketMUNI to get the times for the relevant bus lines).
2. Certain lines have limited runs (e.g. 71-L, 38-L, etc.) and it would be awesome to either note the end of that run for the day or automatically switch to the normal line instead. For instance, if I work late and the 71-L has stopped, have the app provide 71 times instead.
